Reflection
This class really changed my perspective on teaching science. I have always
loved science as a personal hobby, but didn't really see myself being able to teach in depth concepts. Taking this course
really made me realize that I am a capable teacher. We had quite a bit of practicum time preparing science lessons and
teaching them in our grade level of choice. This helped me to become comfortable teaching a subject that I had never
really considered my "strong suit".
Vickie was a teacher that was so encouraging and it was evident she cared about
our career and passion for teaching. She taught this course in a way that showed us how to encorporate science into
every part of our day. Thematic units are very powerful and it would be so easy to create a theme that is based on science
(ie: pets, insects, dinosaurs, habitats, astronomy...).
