Educating Linguistically Diverse Students

Sign Language

Vickie Bruno.  Wow.  What an amazing woman!
She came in to talk to our class about Sign Language.  I havent taken a signing class in about 2 years and was definitely a little...well a lot rusty on everything but the alphabet!  She isn't deaf, but is so passionate about signing that she went to Galludet school for the deaf (!!!).  We went over a few basic signs the first day.
I was only there for one more of her sessions since my grandmother passed away on the next Thursday and I had the Service Learning conference the next.
The last week we played sign language bingo!  It's so funny to me that there are college students who turn into giddy little kids when given the opportunity to play games in class and compete for prizes!  haha  Which, by the way the prizes were quite unique and useful:  Popcorn, Pringles, Kleenex (hehe :)), and Cake mix!
The game was definitely a good wrap up on her part!  She left us a video of fairy tales that are acted out using sign.  That should be a blast to watch! :)
