My Philosophy of Teaching - "The Heart of Elise"

I want to be a hands on teacher.  I want to provide a room that children feel safe in.  I want my children to feel inspired about every subject that we are working on.  I want them to know that I have confidence in their abilities.  I want there to be a plethora of new experiences with everything from music to cooking to science, which I believe will promote a generally positive atmosphere.

Children are amazing.  The things that they have learned by the time they hit school age are just phenomenal.  We, as adults, can rarely learn that much information that fast.  I want my children to know that because of this that they really are exceptional, even if they aren’t necessarily “school smart.”  Every child has at least one thing that they can excel at.  I believe that it is my job to play detective and help them figure that out.  Every child deserves the chance to not only survive, but to thrive!

"You have to write the book that wants to be written. And if the book will be too difficult for grown-ups, then you write it for children."
— Madeline L'Engle
